Sporting Clays and 5-Stand

The clay target center's automated 15-station sporting clays course winds through the property like a round of golf, with targets that imitate flushing birds, crossing doves and running rabbits. A 5-stand field nearby packs the same variety into a quicker round.

Shooting the course

Sporting clays is the most varied of the clay sports: each station throws a different pair of targets at different speeds, sizes and angles, so it plays like hunting in the field. A full 100-target round takes a squad a couple of hours. Any gauge shotgun that holds two shells is allowed.

An electric cart carries four shooters and up to 700 pounds of people, guns and shells for $25 a round, which makes the course easy for older shooters and anyone carrying a cooler. A push cart for your gun and ammunition is $5.

5-stand

5-stand puts five shooting cages in a line with several automated machines throwing a menu of targets, so you get sporting-clays variety in a 25-target round for $11.25 without walking the course. It's a good warm-up before a full round, or a quick session when you only have an hour.

Tips

Bring four boxes of shells for a full round, plus a spare. Book an electric cart early on weekends. Reserve a trapper at 561-822-6823 if your group wants someone running the machines. Shoot a 5-stand round first to warm up on crossing and incoming targets.
